Transformations

"Transformations" by Genesis Gallery, Kolkata is an art show that provides fuel to the spirit. Each painting on display enters your soul through your eyes and a walk through the show guarantees a feeling of completeness, satisfying all your senses.

The selection of paintings from North, South, East and West of India offers a unique visual experience. Each painting is of a different artist, yet the exhibit showcases together delightfully. Such is the creative genius of the young curator Isha Mody Patodia who has selected the artworks carefully; the show is as diverse as it is whole and as vast as it is centered.

For example, the identifiable genius of Thota Vaikuntham shares space with the upcoming Nagesh Goud, known for his ‘puppet maker’ series. Delhi based artist Seema Kohli’s deep understanding of the mysterious universe hangs with Chameli Ramachandran whose compositions capture the gentle, discreet amity of natural elements. Mumbai based Ajay De’s charcoal communicates with Shuvaprasanna’s artistic intellect. On display are also works by other emerging and established contemporaries like Avijit Dutta, Akhilesh, Asit Patnaik, Bhagat Singh, Fawad Tamkanat, Laxman Aelay, Narsimhulu Kandi, Partha Shaw, Prakash Karmakar, Ramesh Gorjala, S.Harshavardhan, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Shipra Bhattacharya, Shuvaprasanna, Subramanian Gopalsamy, and Sudip Roy. There is also special Art-on the-floor (a unique range of hand woven carpets) by Binoy Verghese , Paresh Maity , SH Raza and Thota Vaikuntham.

The show is inaugurated by Janab Firhad Hakim, Hona’ble Minister of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Government of West Bengal. Sponsors of the show are The Oberoi Grand, Jacob’s Creek and Unimark.
