Sumonto Chawdhury was born in Murshidabad district of West Bengal in 1979. After finishing his school in Murshidabad, he joined Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan to pursue a bachelors’ degree in Fine Arts. In 2004 he completed his BFA in Painting with a first class degree from Kala Bhavana.

Sumanto Chowdhury is a Hyderabad-based Indian contemporary artist known for his vibrant semi-realistic landscapes, mixed-media paintings, printmaking, and sculptural works inspired by rural Bengal and urban Hyderabad. His artworks are recognized for their rich colors, miniature-painting influences, and dreamlike architectural compositions.
