Debabrata Sarkar, born in 1980 in North Kolkata, is a visual artist with a Bachelor and Master of Visual Arts. His work vividly contrasts the transient nature of power with nature’s enduring resilience, capturing the decay of feudal grandeur and its relics while celebrating the persistent vitality of the natural world. This thematic exploration reflects on the juxtaposition between human excess and the timeless beauty of nature. He held his first solo exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kolkata in 2005 and has since participated in numerous group exhibitions, including notable shows like “Now & Tomorrow” in Bangalore 2011, “Con Tra Art” in Malaysia (2009), and “Eye on Art” in Kolkata 2009. His exhibitions span prestigious venues such as Lalitkala Academy, Birla Academy of Arts & Culture, and various art galleries in Bangalore, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Malaysia, illustrating his deep connection with India’s cultural heritage and his artistic engagement with themes of impermanence and natural endurance.
