Sujata Bajaj

Sujata Bajaj was born in Jaipur, India in 1958. She trained in India and also in France. She received a French Government Scholarship in 1988-89 & studied at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts, Paris. She currently lives and works in Paris.

Sujata has worked with different art forms and media such as etching, woodcut, sculpture, murals, ceramics, fibreglass and metals. Presently she is working with mixed media and acrylics. Her works are included in national & international, private and public collections. One of her biggest inspirations to date is the intensity of lines and the beauty and richness of colour, namely flamboyant reds, yellows and oranges. She believes colours and lines are sufficient to convey the emotions her work wants to express without the need of figures. The artist also notes inspiration from Indian tribal art and texts from ancient Sanskrit documents. When Bajaj paints, she surrenders wholly to her subconscious mind and the viewer is invited to surrender to the result, a beautiful harmony of order and disorder, chaos and peace can be seen in all her works.
