Sanjib Roy

Sanjib Roy is an extremely talented artist and sculptor from West Bengal. Portraits are his forte and his use of bright colours in a minimalist manner is his forte. He has also combined realistic style with the famous wash technique of Bengal School. He is equally at ease with the canvas as well as the contemporary genre of sculpture. He is deeply influenced by the convergence of worlds and culture. The boundary of time, space, and soul gets dissolved in his Artworks. A continuum prevails in his every work, every creation. The forms that he creates do not conform to any particular school – yet the harmony is unmistakable. His work crosses dimensions – a relief that plays on the line of time. The subjects create a reality that is so true to our post-modern reflection. He is a versatile artists who adapts and improvises according to the aesthetics and the requirements at hand, culminating in pieces that are refreshingly different, with a unique stamp. ‘Letters from the Past’, a set of Speed Meters, Locks, and specifically The Time Machine is a classic example of Sanjib’s innovative style in distressed paint on fibre sheet and wood.
