Prarthana Modi

Based at New Delhi, India, Prarthana Modi studied photography at Central St. Martins School of Art & Design and The School of Black & White Photography, London.

A creative photographer, she captures all her images in black & white – both conventional silver halide film & digital; her works are sold as limited edition, archival prints.

The choice of black & white is because Prarthana likes to see the starkness of the situation, in the image – colours distract her from this.

Prarthana prints her work on various materials; apart from the archival paper prints she also uses canvas & oftentimes her works are displayed in a unique 3D format.

She shoots by instinct; doesn’t dabble with different types of equipment and lenses.

Having exhibited her works in solo & group exhibitions in India as well as London, Paris, Shanghai, Amsterdam, USA & UK, she received an Award for Film/Analog Landscape Photography and Honorable Mentions for Film/Analog Fine Art & Wildlife Photography by IPA, International Photography Awards, as also Honorable Mentions for Landscape, Architecture, People, Nature & Wildlife, Travel and Street Photography by Paris Photo, MonoVisions Photography Awards and Budapest International Foto Awards.
