Born Free

Born Free is an exhibition that shall commemorate sixty years of India's Independence.

The mature generation of Indian Artists had seen the emergence of a free India after the Independence struggle and experienced the trauma of the partition. They had experienced the subsequent euphoria leading to disillusionment later. The Gen-Next artist of Resurgent India had no such experience but had grown up in an environment of struggle and changing values at a pace unknown earlier. They had been exposed to the best in Eastern and Western Art Forms and Values. Genesis Gallery will be focusing on this generation of Artists that were born after Independence.

The established generation of Indian Artists had seen the emergence of a free India after the Independence struggle. They had experienced the trauma of the partition, followed by the euphoria of the late fifties. Then followed the struggling sixties and beyond, and now suddenly there is a different pace of growth.

Throughout, the artists had responded the fast changing values within a traditional society. Like their predecessors, they had always been open to, and experimented with both far Eastern forms as well as the trends of Western Art.

Genesis Gallery will focus on this generation of Artists. The Gen-Next Artist of Resurgent India.
